Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital media has transformed the landscape of communication and created unprecedented opportunities as well as ethical challenges for Islamic Dawah. Contemporary digital platforms are increasingly influenced by algorithm-driven communication, clickbait practices, misinformation, privacy violations, and polarized online interactions, all of which undermine the ethical integrity of religious communication. This qualitative study employs an analytical approach to examine these challenges in the light of the Qur'an & Sunnah and proposes a comprehensive ethical framework for Islamic Dawah in digital environments. The proposed framework is built upon key Qur'anic and Prophetic principles, including verification of information (tabayyun), truthful communication (qawl sadīd), protection of privacy and concealment of faults (satr), wisdom and respectful dialogue (ḥikmah and ḥusn al-jidāl), and avoidance of futile content (i‘rāḍ ‘an al-laghw). These principles are analyzed in relation to contemporary digital communication issues such as fake news, clickbait, online harassment, algorithmic manipulation, and unethical data practices. The study argues that effective digital Dawah should extend beyond technological competence and audience engagement by emphasizing ethical responsibility, academic integrity, authenticity, and respect for human dignity. The findings demonstrate that the Qur'an and Sunnah provide a coherent and sustainable ethical foundation capable of addressing the moral challenges of modern digital communication. The study contributes to contemporary scholarship by presenting an integrated Islamic ethical framework that can guide individuals, educational institutions, and digital media organizations in promoting responsible and value-based communication in the digital age.
