Abstract

The given study critically analyses the opportunities of Islamic Da’wah on Social media that includes Facebook, YouTube, X, and Instagram with an evaluation on the challenges of epistemic authorities and ethical dilemmas within shariah and sociological framework. The study reveals the fact that numerous opportunities have been provided by the social media in terms of the global outreach, interactive communication and targeting audience. Although it’s commercial architecture, the attention economy and algorithmic dynamics promotes rushing and surface level details rather than deep understanding. Consequently, the modern Muslim society is facing two major crises: the first one is the decline of the epistemic authority, where the populist and the unreliable digital influencer are getting more attention and centralization as compared to the classical authoritative sources and the recognized scholars. As a result, the principles of Ifta and Taffaqu are severely affected. Secondly, a severe moral decay the manifestation of which is the algorithmic polarization, sectarian polemics public fault finding for the sake of likes and views. The study concludes that in order to protect the Digital Da’wah from such intellectual chaos a “Digital Da’wah Code of Ethics” at the level of Muslim Academies, establishment of Institutional Academic References, and media psychological preachers are required. So, that is how the digital media can be aligned with the objectives of Shari’ah and the classical methodologies knowledge and character.
