Munir Ahmad Badini occupies a notable position in Balochi literature mainly as a fiction writer; however, his contribution to Balochi drama remains equally significant and merits academic attention. Vigorously engagement in drama writing since the 1970s, Badini wrote numerous radio and television dramas for Radio Pakistan Quetta and PTV Bolan, Quetta Centre. Though his fictional works grew wider acceptance, his dramatic works represent a critical depiction of the Baloch society. Majority of Badini’s dramas are tragic in nature, reflecting the socio-cultural stiffnesses, moral dilemmas, and empirical struggles of Baloch life. His dramatic characters are deeply rooted in indigenous realities and represent the shared experiences of loss, resistance, and flexibility within Baloch society. Through tragic descriptions and complex characterizations, Badini discloses the fundamental causes of social grievances and highlights the structural challenges faced by the Baloch people. This paper illustrates the essence of Munir Ahmad Badini’s dramatic works, with specific focus on tragic description and its social roles. By examining selected dramas, the study aims to prove how tragedy functions as a literary tool through which Badini enunciates social critique and conserves the Baloch cultural awareness.
